How long does it take a Bengal Kitten to settle into a new home?
Firstly it doesn't happen overnight!
On average it will take your new Bengal Kitten around 3 days to settle in. Initially they will probably feel overwhelmed and unsure of whats going on. You may notice that they avoid eating or drinking to start with. This is all normal and you do not need to worry about this.
Make sure that when you take them home, they are confined to a small room (less scary for them) with a litter box and plenty of food and water. You will probably find they will eat/drink or toilet at night. We recommended keeping them in this room for at least the first week to enable them to get used to the new smells, their surroundings and you! Spending plenty of time playing with them will help them to help them to bond to you.
After the first week, you can gradually introduce them to the rest of the house, a bit at a time, think of slowly widening a net. Make sure they are comfortable and confident first without rushing them, no matter how tempting this may be!
Your Bengal Cat or Kitten will gradually learn your routine, this takes them about 3 weeks and you will notice they are starting to feel more comfortable and both you and your cat will start to establish a routine together.
After 3 months, you and your cat will feel like you have been together fur-ever! You will have built trust and a bond with each other and your new Bengal cat will feel that they have a sense of security within their new family.
